Hey all, if you use gOLD mINE community door game server (goldminebbs.com for info) you may have experienced some "too many file handles open" linux error when trying to play a game. This is not normal behavior, but it seems to be affecting the server since the upgrade to Ubutu 24.04.

dosemu is unsupported on Ubuntu 24,04, so not suprised weird stuff is happeneing TBH.

So, I've been testing a migration to dosemu2, and so far so good on the test server! I'm going to push this live tomorrow, so there may be some down time. I'll also test every game to see if there's any problems.

    Cheers,

    -jA

Sweet!! - Well not the part about stale file handles, but sounds like dosemu2 might be better supported in the future. Good w0rk and thanks for all yer work on GoldMine, JA1!

... I'm gonna send you a netmail as I want to pick your brain, just a little, about GoldMine.

You got it. Looking like the dosemu2 switch will indeed happen tomorrow.

I think dosemu2 is the way forward from here on out. Luckily, seems to be more examples and docs for BBS setup, more than there was a couple years ago...

Nice. If you can take some notes and post them somewhere with the links
as well. It would be good to have an updated, known working set of
how-to for some of these things.

    Thanks again for the service!

Thank you. I followed/used nelgin's instructions for configuring Synchronet with dosemu2, so far working flawlessly, other than having to change all the startup directly file paths, as they were using forward slashes vs backslashes, ha! I guess it worked fine that way under dosemu, but not dosemu2.

I'm going to take some more time and test every game just to be sure.
