51 ..first computer to play around with was the robotron pc1715 (at my fathers workplace). Former east germany. Later got access to KC85 Computer and after reunion of east/west germany, C64 > Amiga > 386dx (that was when a modem came into play).

I'm not sure about here but one of the "old man club" C64 boards I frequent inexplicably had a 19(?) year old dude register a few weeks ago and he's been very busy posting about Atari 2600, Rubik's cubes and a bunch of other stuff a guy of his age has no business knowing anything about :)

He fits in great and knows a *lot* more about the 2600 than I do despite my having grown up around them and owning one back in the day. He also solves his Rubik's cube faster than I do.

My mum says I'm a very special boy, though.

44 here! I started dialing up to things when I was 8 or 9 years old. Ran a BBS by the time I was 11 or 12 and paid for my own phone line with paper route money. Started with a copy of Wildcat I purchased from CompUSA and it wasnt long before I moved to Tribbs. It was the start of a career for me and probably lots of other people.

I just turned 47 last week.

Started calling BBSes in '93. Used many of my banked minutes tying up the phone line to download Apogee and Epic shareware. Other days I'd just play doors, read and post a few quick messages, and hop off.

I lived near Youngstown, Ohio, the home of the famous Rusty n Edie's BBS. I never called the board myself, since it was a pay board, and as a teen I didn't have money to call it. But I do remember my friends talking about the raid that went down.

We got back the same year and such returns also remind me returning to old computing platforms. Like C64, as kid I had it less than a year and switched to Amiga which I had 3 years.. then PC which is also a number of experiences before I could consider from XP to now is more or less consistent if Windows but I'm on Mac since 2011 and that's my longest streak to stay with one platform that more or less is homogeneous.

But I also came back to C64 with which I spent already more time than as a kid, same with Amiga (proud owner of A1200 since 2016 and still actively enjoying the damn thing).

I only continually like Windows less and less. It works so I'm not that religious about it, but it's boring and it's getting people locked again!
