I've never run as POTA, but work em when I hear em. I just got back on air earlier this year after a 6-7 yr hiatus from HF and the number of POTA stations these days amazes me. I'm tempted to try one of these days myself.

I can't wait to get a HF radio so I can join in the fun. In the winter I will be hunting as I am a freeze baby and won't be sitting in a part at -40F or C since they are the same at that temp.

    Yeah,

I'm doing POTA but I have to admit I've only really been a hunter station. I'm set up to go outdoors and was doing that long before POTA took off but just hadn't had the opportunity of late.

I used to use my TenTec 506 Rebel and I'd hike that and a simple 40m dipole up to the local fire tower when I lived in Northern Saratoga County often enough. I had a gel cell battery and could run CW all day if I pleased.

Now I'm using a Xeigu G106 in the shack and it's everything the TenTec was (minus the superb full break in) plus 10-80m all modes. I've been doing more with FLdigi of late with it and finding the NBEMS stuff works QRP just fine most of the time.

Just got an old MFJ Econokeyer though at the hamfest last week so I can work bug mode out of doors now so perhaps I'll get to some parks as an activator.

When I first got licensed, I bought the G90. Even at 20w, that radio is incredibly fantastic.

I later bought the XPA-125B 100w amp for it, and connected through the CE-19 interface board. It's a ridiculously capable setup, and I swear, Xiegu radios can tune a rock and you can talk across the ocean on it.

I've since put a Yaesu 991A in the shack, but my G90 is still my go-to rig out in the field.
