Venus Passes Scorpius DSOs (after sunset)

During October Venus will be shining above the southwestern horizon after sunset. As it swings farther from the sun each day, it will move eastward through the background stars and set late enough for them to appear,
especially for observers at southerly latitudes. On the evenings surrounding Wednesday, October 23, Venus will pass close to many deep sky objects in the head of Scorpius, including the globular cluster Messier 80 on October 22-23 and IC 4504 the reflection nebula surrounding Rho Ophiuchi on October 23-25. Widefield image can incorporate Antares, Messier 4, and additional reflection nebulae to their south.
