• NASA lack of plan.

So, what do people think? Will there be a new NASA plan? Launch system?
Or are we to cede space to the Chinese and Russians?

My understanding is there will be a new launch system. They're
supposed to be going back to Apollo-style spacecraft. I forget what
they're calling them, but they'll look similar, but be much, much
more advanced, and much, much bigger. The reason for using that
style is that it's been proven less costly and more safe than a shuttle-
    type spacecraft (for now).

On the other hand, there's several US space companies building up
technology for commercial space endeavors. At least one of them is
working on a shuttle type spacecraft. Not sure what the others are
doing. They already have launch vehicles sending up satellites.

Another ten or twenty years, if the US government needs help sending
something up, we won't have to rely on another government. Private
industry has proven again and again, it can do it better, and it can
    do it cheaper.
