    Hi Everyone,

I've been pondering how to increase my BBS's usership from the 4-6 regular users I have (excluding myself) and I have pondered cash prizes. My concern is that it brings temporary usership (there as long as the prizes are there) but I'm curious as to the results other sysops have had. This can have well, temporary long spread (The users who gets the xxx over 3 months gets sss) effects or is this good money after bad.

    Cheers

This is the age old question... Now'days it seems the gamer boards get top billing for most users, but for me being an info-phile and loving anything with TONS of message forums, downloadable text files (especially older tech zines), and the like, game boards aren't really my cup of tea.

My board for the most part is still 99% stock, and being that it's been up
for going on almost a year now, I don't know if I'll ever get around to updating it. Even if I did, I'm not planning on installing any games, so given today's users, I won't get any anyway. I run the board for my own pleasure, and that's about all any Sysop can do now'days. If you odn't
enjoy your own board, then it's not worth running. If you have callers who enjoy it, that's just an added bonus.

    Sam

Yes. I feel the same way now as well too. I also run my BBS for private reasons. I used to enjoy having people coming on it but now with society changing and new technology people are more shifting to forums and other
things instead. If I got people coming on, it would be shocking. But I am not as concerned as I once was.
