Will no longer see Any Messages with a 12:12/? in there
if any are comming thru now they will be from some other system
Mystic not only is not gating them but will no longer Carry dovenet on its Sbbs system , Sorry for the inconvience
But if it happens this time I would really suggest Dm look at the others that are gating the areas as well , if he stops to look in alot of the echos other than the ones that are gated thru fido he will see Mystic was not the only one who was gating some of the message bases

Using Queens BBS to post such bullshit is an insult to everyone who
uses Dovenet and runs Synchronet.. Roger, I would greatly like it if
you never posted here again.. More "reliable"?! You would have to
fucking PROVE that shit to me buddy, because I downloaded Virtual
Advanced, and I was not ONE BIT impressed. No insult intended to
Steve, or anyone who runs it, to each there own.. However ROGER needs
to learn when NOT to run his mouth. Synchronet is the most advanced,
BEST BBS software out there with FAR more features. And it has the
BEST support.

If DM gives you a link here to answer a question, it is because the
answer is THERE. If you are too fucking lazy to read the damn thing

someone passed out their reg files and everyone is using the same reg.
then someone built some interfaces to it. but the base system is dead.

and solid software. and the author supports it the best he can w.o being paid for it. to be honest I think he supports it better than any other package out there freeware or commercial. so....

Good luck to ya... DM and Deuce IMO have single handedly kept the BBS
world alive with Synchronet and Dovenet, and all others are riding on their coat tails, in my opinion anyway.

I agree... IMO DM and Deuce have pretty much kept the BBS scene alive with Sychronet, and though there are other BBS apps out there, Sync really has
more features then any I've ever seen, includng those that once dominated
the BBS world (Renegade, WWIV, etc). This is my opinion of course, but
given that most of the boards running now run Sync, that seems to prove my point to some degree.

Just the fact that the original poster said he had to BUY WWIV makes me question the folks who maintain it. What other application do you use
where the authors actually take an active part in the community efforts to better the program?

Anyway, just my thoughts. I'd be game to try other BBS programs, but
honestly I don't think any top what Sync offers.

I bought synchronet when it was a pay software, and was crushed for a while when DM decided to make it free and give out the source code. then I realized at least someone would continue to work on it so it wouldn't die, then DM decided to continue with it being free and with source code. I could say I lost the money I paid for it, but it continues to be the best software around now.

Just curious, did you ever actually take the time to read what DM has? His documentation has helped almost everyone who currently runs Sync, and in
every case I've had problems DM or other Sync sysops have always stepped up
to help me, even given that I'm running Sync on Linux which isn't all that common.

I have to completely disagree with your comments whole heartedly. If you don't care to use Sync or Dovenet, there are many other options. Have fun.

Well, all else fails.. money talks... you could have A) offered $$ to have someone help you setup/learn... B) offered $$ to pay someone to update said docs... C) paid money in books/instruction on learning to program...

I think you would rather bitch about crap than actually do something productive or put your money where your mouth is... Also, I think I've maybe needed help with something a handful of times in running Synchronet... And really haven't seen the attitude you are talking about... WRT reading the docs, the fact is, if the answer to your question is *IN* the docs, DM usually posts a link to the specific page... Beyond that, IIRC, some of your questions weren't related to Synchronet, it was related to door configurations.

Beyond that, in a tit-for-tat statement, I thought you were running VirtualDecrepid now, so what does it matter?

is we are *NOT* paid to sit around and help you... When we are in IRC, and a question is asked, the people there will generally help... did you ever actually try that? I don't recall any occasion where a sysop has acted nearly as ignorantly, or blatently asshole-like as you are right now.

Except for the last time *YOU* were posting crap... And frankly, given your attitude, I don't blame anyone for *NOT* helping you.
