    Hello all,

Is it possible to access fidonet over nntp? If so under which hierarchy
    do they reside in?

    Thanks
    Jim

Unfortunately no, bbs-scene.org doesn't carry the fidonet backbone for the simple reason that no one has ever asked for it. We do carry the SciNet echos at scinet.*

I do offer full fidonet feeds via nntp on my bbs, bbs.diskshop.ca. All you have to do is telnet to the bbs and create an account, you can then pull down all of the echo's using a news reader and your account info.

    To Jim Qode --
If you're looking to access Fidonet strictly through Netsurge's BBS, then that is up to Netsurge.
If you're willing to get a separate account in order to access FidoNet over NNTP, then the answer is definitively YES.
http://www.easternstar.info is a website dedicated to such a service.

If you are looking for an end user account / service, the option "User Applications" is what you are looking for.
If you are a Sysop in any form, then "Sysop Applications" would probably be more
    to your liking.

    Hope that helps.

Is it possible to access fidonet over nntp?

yes, but it isn't "FIDONET"... it is whatever messages the BBS you are accessing
has decided to offer via NNTP...

fidonet echos are not available on the general usenet groups...

If so under which hierarchy do they reside in?

that depends on the BBS you are using...

fidonet echos are not available on the general usenet groups...

fido.7 which is the Russian Fidonet backbone has been available by NNTP for years now. It's a sanctioned newgroup hiarchy with the ISC.
