You can get some cheap Heils for like 50-60 bucks that work great.. Whats affordable to you? I have spent $200 or more on mics in the past.

Heil would probally would be the brand id consider. i dont think a standard
20 buck headset would justify for an internet broadcast.

50-60 would sound fair for a beginner to be 'affordable' and hq.

I agree with the hulk, AKG's is what I use too. Low end, but solid and not cheap.

Don't know, never used heil's stuff...

I have use this though, and can say it's an amazing mic for the price, but you'll need phantom power to use it.

For what purpose? If you're looking for voice then the ElectroVoice RE20 is hard to beat for quality vs. price (300 or so new and 100-150 used). This is the defacto standard for radio and voice applications.

And, the RE20 is very good at capturing high SPL instruments as well with its large diaphram. I use an RE20 almost exclusively on kick drums and bass cabinets. It is also a nice mic for guitar cabinets and just about anything really.

But, if you want to spend less you can go with something like the Shure Beta 57A which is good with voice and very versatile.
