I recently purchased a copy of Cakewalk Sonar Home Studio 4 for use in my little home studio thingy... After going through the tutorials, I'm beginning to realize just how powerful this type of software can be.
So, last night, I decided to try my hand at recording a song. I chose an old Pink Floyd song (Free Four) from Obscured by Clouds, as it's a fairly simple song. Having never played it, I needed to learn it first.
I found myself without the use of an _electric_ guitar as my Les Paul is sitting in the band's trailer, and my Strat is in the shop being repaired. So the only six string guitar I had available to me was a Goya acoustic
with a clamp on sound hole pickup... oh well, it'd have to do. I did, however, have a cheap electric bass to use.
There were no external effects used, all effects were provided by the
Sonar software.
Anyhow, after about three hours, I had this...

Not great, but fun, as it's all me baby... ;-)

Not bad at all for just throwing it together! If I had to be critical it wo mostly be the bass, but the quality came out pretty good.
When are we going to make a Synch CD? Seems like alot of us have bands or a musicians?

OK, who's gonna start this thing off?

It would be neat to collaborate, but would probably be easier just to do separate songs. May be a themed CD about Synchro.

*scratches head* As good a drummer as DM might be? A song that's just drums? Maybe Roalt is an excellent bass player, but just a bass? Even guitar same thing.
*shrug* I mean, okay, if what's intended is the easiest possible path, but personally I don't balk at a bit of complexity and rather find the idea of collaborating worth the time to do it.
It's not like there's any time pressure or anything.
So... how many of us can SING?

*grin* Don't werdz-n-stuff need to be somewhere in the works before that's even a concern?
Besides... There's a pretty big difference between "can" and "want
to", which is also kind of an important question. ;)

Ten-HUT! Drop and give us 20 verses of "I'm Henery the eight I am".

I "can" add in my services... I'm a Guitar player and I run
soundboards, mixing live bands and have extensive time in the studio as
a second profession. :)
Just couldn't figure a way to work in the "want to" portion! :)
As long as "time" isn't of the essence, as I have very little of it! :)

Well, it just wouldn't be the same without it.

I know you could lay a nice lead guitar down!

*shrug* All that's really needed is a "master list" sort of thing that points to raw tracks in the works for listening and collaboration, something to make it possible to point to for conversation reference.
