If you havent noticed, there are people that are trying to stop p2p sharing. i think its wrong. We should be able to share over p2p networks if we please. I mean come on who really cares. If they take away p2p sharing we will find other ways to get copyrighted software/music/movies. Just because they stop one way doesnt mean they can stop it permanently

What is the "that" that you're referring to? I assure you, nothing is going to happen to our Xbox Live service so long as it remains profitable for Microsoft.

If you havent noticed, there are people that are trying to stop p2p sharing. think its wrong. We should be able to share over p2p networks if we please.

    That's a very narrow perspective.

I think that when I pay for internet access, I shouldn't be limited to
surfing the WWW. Rather, I think my ISP should allow me to connect to any host in the world, on any port, for any purpose whatsoever. (Obviously,
the remote host has to be willing to accommodate me, but that is an
    entirely different issue.)

I consider "P2P networks" to be an artificial construct, that are only superficially at issue. It isn't that thet are trying to prevent "P2P sharing" It is that they are trying to apply *any* restrictions
    whatsoever.

If they take away p2p sharing we will find other ways to get
    copyrighted software/music/movies.

Ah! So your problem is NOT with restrictions on your ability to freely communicate. Your problem is that people dare try to prevent you from stealing!

Could it not also be an effort to protect the end user (ISP's client)? Being able to download virtually any piece of software or movie or album, sometimes before their local market release dates, with just a few clicks falls under the 'too good to be true' category for me.

Right now I am imagining a hoarde of lawyers lining up at the LA Marathon starting line in Downtown LA. Everybody under 5 feet gets a 5 minute head start. Marks... get set...

Indeed. But what about Child Porn? I can't say that I'm too against the recent companies that are blocking those sites now.

    What companies? ISPs?

I am (obviously) against child porn. On the other hand, I don't want the phone company to take steps to prevent me from saying "fuck" into my
mobile, and I don't want my ISP to prevent me from accessing Digital Man's free MP3 downloads. The ISP is (or should be) in the business of
providing bandwidth. Not managing my morals for me.

Yea, here in the states that's happened. It's a tough debate because of the sensitivity. It's not like they can just go and shut the servers down at the source if they are hosting in China or something. Blocking might be the only solution, but I agree with you on your point.

I'm curious where this message/thread came from? You're posting this in the Dove-Net Pro-Audio sub-board, which has no relation to torrents. Also, I don't see this message you're replying to from the user 'Binaryhacker69' on my BBS in the Dove-Net Pro-Audio sub-board.
