Since this sub-board has been dead quiet, I thought I'd stir up a topic. As I'm sure there are plenty of other "cord=cutters" out there: what is you favorite backend/frontend TV software? I have two HDHomerun tuner (each has two tuners) for a total of four tuners that can be used. My main backend computer is a Mac Mini, which has been working great (for the most part) in this role. I stream to a list of devices: Raspberry Pi's running Kodi, iPhone/iPad (when away from home), Amazon Fire Stick, Samsung DVD Player (Plex), etc. It just depends on the mood I'm in. Software used: EyeTV, Plex, HDHomerun's native stuff, Kodi plugins, the "Channels" app, InstaTV, etc. Each seems to have its own strength and weakness, but it is nice seeing software finally evolving for TV! Its stating to get REALLY close to getting nice and seamless and there are mroe than a few groups trying to glue everything together. With my current hodge podge, I can:
1. Check TV schedules on my iPhone/iPad
2. Have a show recorderd
3. Automatically converted to .m4v format for iStuff once finished (script-fu) 4. Emails me when it is finished and ready
5. Waiting nice and pretty on my AppleTV or available over cellular WAN

Now, if there is any TV content that is worth all of this trouble is another topic, lol.

Pardon my ignorance, but when you do this what is the source of your TV feed?
I figured the Internet but then I read the part about scheduling recordings, which you'd not need to do for the Internet sources I am aware of (i.e. Netflix, Hulu, etc.).

Source is just Over-The-Air... Having "cord-cutted" years ago, I just went to the usual stuff (Netflix, Kodi, etc) and grabing stuff OTA. I'm using four tuners by Silicon Dust HDHomerun. (Two litle boxes, each with two ATSC tuners..)

went to the usual stuff (Netflix, Kodi, etc) and grabing stuff OTA. I'm using four tuners by Silicon Dust HDHomerun. (Two litle boxes, each
with two ATSC tuners..)

Ahhh... for some reason, I took cord-cut to mean all cables, not just the "cable" cable. <GRIN> Where I live, now that everything has gone digital,
OTA is no longer an option. Used to be, when it was all analog, I could pull in at least one, and usually two, of every major network and then some.

Even when they first went digital, I could get most of the majors and some of the subchannels. Once they went plumb digital in the nearest big towns, they all dropped their signal strengths. Cannot get much of anything without
cable now.

Having more than two tunners sounds great, though.

That sucks. I just have a panel antenna lut on my apartment balcony, but guesa I'm fortunate in that we are on the (top) third floor on a hilltop in Seven Hills, Ohio that is literally overlooking and line-of-sight of downtown Cleveland and all the transmitters. Its also a perfect location for HAM, which I'm about to get into despite my girlfriend saying she dorsnt want to see me putting a bunch of ugly antennae out on the balcony, but she'll have to live with it. Lol.

I've seen some devices like that. I've considered buying one, but I already have 2
TVs in my house where we get over-the-air TV, so I'm not sure what benefit one of
those would have for me.
