I like listening to music, but often I find music distracting while I try to work or study. Sometimes I listen to music when doing physical work though. It depends on my mood - Classic rock, 80s music, jazz/new age (such as Jean-Luc Ponty or Enya, etc.).. It really depends.

Back in 2001, I ripped a collection of ambient, IDM and electronic tracks from an online game called Majestic, and that's been my go-to work music since then. No lyrics, and a mixture of spooky, etheric, upbeat and ambient beats that's been great for blocking out open offic noise.
They're playing on http://radio.realitycheck.org - check'm out.
In the mid-90s, I used to play Mechwarrior 2 a bit (I was never that great at it). The game CD had some audio tracks after the data track, and one of the songs that always stuck with me was Pyre Light: https://youtu.be/gX4G1RJYTi8

I tried to load that but it was unable to load. Is the site down?

Side comment: I think it's interesting that the "go to site" for finding "free" songs/music is YouTube. When my kids starting doing this a couple of years ago instead of using sites like Pandora, SoundCloud, iTunes, etc., I was appauled at the waste of bandwidth: sending the video (often just a still photo or lyric slides) over the Internet/4G network to their phone
and they're not even watching it (just listening)! But they don't know/care about wasted bits, just convenience. Now I do it too on occasion! :-)

try it here, this was suggested to me when the browser couldn't find the above url:

nice one there, that brought back memories. I recall when Descent came out, the music sounded awesome on my PAS16, so much better than on the SB2 at the time. This tube has the music done on a Roland SC-55, and it sounds close to
what I recall on the PAS16 with the samples I had loaded to memory - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBVe_LX4gEk

there's a lot of somewhat lost musical treasures on youtube as well.
AND they have entire albums.
i got a bunch of saturday night specials and converted them to mp3
ambient chill stuff. I'm a few songs in.. still trying to decide, I guess. Nil had pangs of a church organ, and Overand was a bit hang drum-ish. I think these tunes just creeped me out. lol.
