Depends on what kind of "classic" music you like. My favorite album is
"Layla and other assorted love songs" by Derek & the Dominoes, but that is classic rock. I also have some Jimmy & Tommy Dorsey LPs, which are also definite classics, and a few Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass records which are also classics.

They all sound pretty good on the turntable. :)

Oh man! I always wondered why I loved them so much, until I figured out "The Tijuana Brass" were actually, more or less, The Wrecking Crew!

Those cats were cool! And, so was Herb! I actually learned trumpet as a middle schooler listening to and matching a vinyl copy of Herb and the Brass's Greatest Hits.

Ah yes! You know it's about to kick off when you hear those drum kicks and that lone trombone! I always loved playing along to that song. "Tijuana Taxi" was another fun one.

On musical merit, definitely. However, there are a few classic Yes albums that sounded horrible on the original mastering and media. Tales from Topographic Oceans and Relayer, as well as the live album Yessongs, all sound better in later "remasters."

For those, I might suggest checking out the Steve Wilson remixes on vinyl, bearing in mind that he started from scratch with the original tracks. All the arrangements are identical, but some sounds have been brought to the fore that might have been muted more in the original Offord mixes.

Still, the sound of Relayer on the remix is unbelievable; Tales is almost as good.

As for Jethro Tull, they've always sounded their best on record!
