Phenomenal show. Fell apart after season 9, but nothing lasts forever.

I think if I were speaking to someone who was gonna watch it for the first time I’d say to stop after season 9 and make up your own ending.

Seasons 10 and 11 had some ridiculous aspects and some things i cant forgive (Skinner, Reyes to name a few). They had a few good episodes too (Were-Monster, Familiar) but overall they were bad - My Struggle sucked I gotta say.

But seasons 1-9 of the X Files, with a few exceptions, are some of my favourite TV. And I am so glad I stuck it out after initially not liking season 6 - I would never have seen Doggett!

I kept a little note rating each episode. My favourites season by season were, according to this:

The Pilot, Conduit, Ascension, Clyde Bruckman’s Final Repose, Jose Chung’s from Outer Space, Quagmire, Paper Hearts, Tempus Fugit, Max, Elegy, Bad Blood, The Beginning, The Rain King, Sein Und Zeit, Closure, Hollywood A.D. and The Gift

(Sorry that’s a long list lol just my top rated episodes!)

I don’t know if I can pick a single favourite haha

I think my favourite season is a toss up between the first 4, honestly.

I believe the worst episode is a tie between The Field Where I Died and My Struggles I-III. The worst season is obviously 11, but for the original run i think 9 is the weakest.

Next, the lone gunmen, then millennium!

It's worth many rewatches. So many incredible episodes, themes and character development. I have just done another and can't figure out the dip in season 6. Either way, I really enjoy catching up on favourite episodes. Currently a good chunk through season 7.

    Did you watch the films?

Great list! Most of those are in my tops too. Love the love for The Gift, often overlooked.

You’ll love the Lone Gunman, it’s much more humorous. I wish it had continued.

I need to start Millennium. My dad watched it as it aired but I have yet to dive in. I’m excited and hope I can enjoy it just as much.
